2019 3rd QTR Newsletter

Dear Partners in Prayer,

As recently in the last two months, Hong Kong has been going through a democracy protest against the government extradition law to be passed so that China can extradite Hong Kong crime suspects into China without a fair trial system like Hong Kong. China’s human rights have been violated so often that many human right activists and lawyers are being unfairly arrested or harassed.

More than 2 million people have marched on the streets of Hong Kong but facing violent opposition from the police. Hundreds of tear gas and rubber bullets are fired towards the protesters. Hundreds of them are violently beaten up and arrested. So pray for peace in Hong Kong and restoration of order soon without further violence on both sides!

There are over 300,000 Canadian passport holders in Hong Kong; and nearly 700,000 foreign passport holders of other countries. I will expect a mass exodus of people immigrating back to those countries in the coming years. Also those young people may reconsider oversea education soon. There are over 80,000 Hong Kong citizens already immigrated to Taiwan. 50 of them have escaped to Taiwan for political asylum recently. Two of them have run to Germany already. We feel safer as we are living in north of Shenzhen city now.

We are currently consultants of one of our students’ house church. The pastor’s family of that church will move to Pakistan to join a children ministry program there in the fall of this year. A lady pastor Joyce is being installed to replace them. Queenie will help her in the pastoral and prayer ministry. I will be responsible for training their church leaders and cell group pastors. This house group has a membership of about 100 migrants.

Our former employee Esther Ye will join our ministry starting in this September. She will be responsible family ministry and administration. Please pray we will raise enough financial support for her.

Dear Partners,

Please continue to pray for the situation in China’s churches. Recently, the Chinese authority has asked one of our network churches to stop the meetings for one month until the security alert is over. This church has good relationship with the local authorities and they thought they are given some favor already by not shutting them down altogether.

Last week I went to Hainan Island for a weekend leadership training and meeting with 4 other companies in regards to running their  transformational businesses. Now we have strategic partners in Hainan, Chengdu, Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Shanghai.

We are in process of recruiting a China news and leadership researcher as we are trying to raise some funding for our Leadership Dynamic Project. Please remember us as you are thinking of making donations to ministry in China. Last fiscal year we have incurred an annual deficit of over US$10,000. Because of the financial slowdown in China, many of our business partners and donors have sold or closed down their businesses.

Please also join our international prayer group on Facebook: look up Christians United For China (CUFC) or Pacific Rim Foundation.

Christians United For China (CUFC)

The crackdown of Christian churches inside China continues. Last month, just before the Chinese New Year, 150 leaders of the China Gospel Fellowship network were arrested in Henan while they are attending their leadership meeting. During the raid, one of the pastors had a heart attack. This is one of the largest house church network in China, many of their leaders were under close surveillance by the government.

Accusing China of violating human rights, a top American lawmaker said fighting for religious liberty should be a top priority in negotiating US and China relationship.

The US doesn’t have the singular authority to stop the religious persecution in China, but it can apply significant pressure to Chinese leaders by linking the need for religious freedom to the economic and political aspects of the bilateral relationship that are important to China, Senator Chuck Grassley said in Politico Magazine.

“As China’s largest trading partner, the US is in a powerful position to influence Chinese leaders and stand up for human rights. Fighting for religious liberty should be a central part of the US’ relationship with China,” he asserted in his op-ed, which comes amidst reports of renewed efforts of religious prosecution of Christians and other religions in the country.

Disturbing reports have surfaced out of China of late detailing the imprisonment of Christian pastors, Bible burning and demolishing of Christian and Catholic churches. Grassley is chairman of the powerful Senate Judiciary Committee.

Recently, he introduced a Senate resolution on China’s religious prosecution. The Chinese government has removed crosses from over 7000 Christian churches as of 2018, and has instructed police officers to stop citizens from entering their places of worship, he said. “There have been violent confrontations between government authorities and worshipers, and communist leaders have implemented restrictions prohibiting children 18 years old and younger from participating in religiously-focused education,” Grassley said.

As a community in Christ, we need to pray earnestly for the Chinese churches and their leaders. Please join our Facebook international prayer network: Christians United For China (CUFC) to obtain the most updated information about the churches in China. Let’s pray for them internationally 24/7. Putting our heartfelt love and support into action is one of the greatest gifts we can give to the Chinese people and the world.

As we celebrate this sacred Christmas & New Year season,  we pray that the overflowing blessings of God’s peace, joy, and abundance flood your homes. May the Lord command His favor over your household as you continue to bless His beloved nation of China and His People.

The leadership of Christians United for China pray that the New Year bring you even greater blessings as we unite to make China and its church stronger and her people safer in 2019.

But let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them;
let those also who love Your name be joyful in You.
For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous;
with favor You will surround him as with a shield.

May you and your loved ones have a Merry Christmas
and an exceedingly prosperous New Year.

2017 Year End Newsletter

Dear Partners,

Greetings from China in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!

Last month we have received financial support from our home church in California and some of our close friends both in Hong Kong and the US; more than 60% of our deficit was covered. We were able to back pay our staff salaries for the last two months. On top of that, we finally received the grant money from a USA Foundation and put us right into the black again before the end of last month. Thank you for all your prayer and support. PTL!

Early this year we have started our PAC RIM Leadership Institute in the city of Shenzhen. We have trained two focus groups of young career adults.  One group was mainly non-Christians on career planning and leadership principles. This focus group has about 50 some members. Our purpose is to plant good Christian values into their management thinking as well as pre-evangelism effort.

We will train and recruit the second focus group who are mainly Christian business people. We will be traveling to other cities such as Guangzhou, Wenzhou and Shanghai to train them.  Although our PAC RIM Leadership Institute is located in Shenzhen, some of our training effort will be itinerary. Christian theology and values will be our main focus in our training.

At the same time we are working on our bi-vocational training project on counselors, business managers and the medical professionals. Next year we will take couple of short term teams to Xinjiang and southeast Asia to explore the possibility of sending workers there.

Also, we will be visiting the United States again this Christmas to celebrate Chuck’s Mom 90th Birthday. Chuck will probably be sharing with some churches and fellowship groups. We will be in LA between Dec 19 - Jan 4. In San Francisco from Jan 5-16, 2018. You may want to send me an email or WhatsApp message if you need to contact us or for speaking engagement.

Best Regards,

2016 Year End Newsletter

                                                                                     December 9, 2016
Dear Partners,

John Dawson says in his book "Taking The Cities For God":

“A nation is a geographical and political alliance among its major cities.  The cities are the mind and heart of the nation, the place where the national myth is largely enshrined…As we dream of discipling nations, we must firmly grasp the reality of these nations.  That means the Gospel must transform the spiritual, philosophical and physical life of a nation’s cities.”

May God’s grace and blessings be with you this year and the years to come!   We have recently traveled to Guangzhou & Beijing and networked with a few house group networks there. We will be training over 80 bi-vocational and Business As Ministry workers and then send them to the minority group areas in the Western and Northwestern regions of China. The training will begin in December 2016 until 2017 and they will be held separately in the cities of Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou., and Shenzhen.

The PAC RIM Leadership Institute staff are conducting young adult leadership workshops and a Mental Focus Coaching Workshop in Shenzhen & Guangzhou towards a group of young adults from 18 to 40 years old to enhance their career planning and leadership skills. We have offered them several seminars and workshops in our conference room this year so that they can network with each other. In 2017, these workshops will be held in the cities of Shanghai and Beijing.

We are planning to send our first couples to Thailand next year. Timothy was a graduate from our MBS seminary in Guangzhou more then a decade ago. He was recently ordained in Hong Kong. Hopefully, our organization will be able to finish training him and his wife cross-cultural skills and raise enough support to send them to Thailand next year. By the end of 2017, another family will be recruited and sent to southeast Asia. The above two projects we will need to raise USD 30,000 = HKD 232,500 this fiscal year for training, travel expenses, and ministry workers sending purposes.

An internet publishing project Dawn of Asia Press has been started at early 2016. People can read our Dawn of Asia Magazine online and download training materials. Also, they can purchase our books online. Also, an online Theological program is under construction on this same website. Please check out our different programs as they are going online this winter.   We are projecting our current deficit by the end of December 2016 will be USD 10,000. We rely on your support and donations for our ministry. publishing and research effort for China.

May God bless you and give you the grace to move forward in peace and insight in the forth coming year!

Blessings and Best Regards,

2015 Year End Newsletter

                                                                                                         December 31, 2015
Dear Partner,

Our office and our staffs moved from Guangzhou to this southern City of Shenzhen 5 years ago in early 2011.  This is a twin city with Hong Kong as its neighbor.

Shenzhen is a very special city.  Many young people here are chasing after their dreams and their material possessions. They all work very hard. The average age here is only 29 years old.  Therefore, we automatically become their mentors, aunties and uncles.

This year end we just launched our young adult career workshop and our Mental Focus Workshop.  The target groups are young adults from 18 to 30 years old.  We offer them seminars and workshops in our conference room so that they can mingle and network with each other.  Also these are pre-evan gel*sm events to link them to our leadership training and our online disc*pleship program.

Last month, several young people came to our house for a Thanksgiving dinner party and 7 of them gave their lives to Christ after the dinner meeting simultaneously. We believe it was the work of the Holy Spirit.

Today, the dark New Age Movement has penetrated China through Life Coaching and Management Seminars. Under disguise of management and leadership coaching, they name themselves "Life Dynamic." People like Anthony Robin are selling more than 10,000 tickets in each seminar event. People are paying a lot of money for their mind control training and transcendental meditation leading to nowhere. Therefore, we have developed a series of Leadership training called the“8 Characters of a Successful Leader" and “Focus Mindset”for these young people and hopefully we can recover their twisted mindset.

16 years ago, Stacy McGuire and our chairman had started our Factory Association called Quality of Life Association in Hong Kong and we recruited over 30 factories in southern China, with a network of over 200,000 employees. Over the last 15 years, we had led over 35,000 China factory workers and staffs to the faith. Now we are still working with the CEO and managers in China to create a wider platform for ministry. Please continue to pray for us as China is going through a fast transformational change. As this economy becomes wealthier, less people will be willing to listen to the Gospel.

An internet publishing project called Dawn of Asia was started at beginning of this year. People can now read our "Dawn of Asia Magazine" online and download research materials and read testimonies. Also, they can purchase our books online and we can deliver them through courier service to every corner of China, Hong Kong and Macau. A Leadership training program is also online now under the Pac Rim Leadership Institute.
